Accreditation is the formal recognition that a testing laboratory is competent and compliant with the requirements of appropriate laboratory management system standards. Having put in place the requirements of the relevant standard, many laboratory managements wish to have a third party confirmation of the effectiveness of its implementation.
This course provides all the basic information required to enable the management and staff of the laboratory to set about implementing a Laboratory quality system in their laboratory, which could be accredited by a national accreditation body such as the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB). For those involved in the management of the laboratory it will provide them with the programme to meet their goal of Laboratory Accreditation.
The course is also useful for laboratories considering accreditation by other sector specific accreditation bodies such as CLAS or to ISO 15189 Medical laboratories –Particular requirements for quality and competence, (though the specific patient related aspects of this standard will not be addressed).
Potential participants should ideally have previously attended our Good Laboratory Practice training course or be quite familiar with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025.
The course will provide an outline programme and advise of some of the pitfalls in the process of achieving laboratory accreditation and how to avoid them. Helpful course documentation will be provided which could form the basis for the laboratory’s own documentation.Collapse
