Lean Six Sigma Programmes have been delivering significant business improvements and cost savings in Irish Industry over the last number of years.  A key and fundamental element of such a Programme is selecting the right projects and having a practical Process to allow the on-going selection of the right Projects from year to year. Projects are often identified at the last minute and as a result are not well thought out and don’t form part of an overall objective or meet your company’s strategic plan.

Effective Project Selection is easier said than done and there have been instances where Projects have faltered or failed due to;

  • Projects not being resourced properly
  • Project stakeholders not bought into the need for change (especially Management)
  • Projects with a poor business case that don’t command attention or support
  • As mentioned, Projects being selected that are not linked to the Company’s Strategic Objectives or Plans
  • Project scope is too large / too wide
  • Project Goals being poorly defined and not readily measurable before and after
  • Projects competing simultaneously with other company initiatives
  • Poor project leadership
  • Project sponsor too involved or sponsor not involved enough

These issues can be prevented or minimised by the deployment of an effective Project Selection Process which is the basis of this One-Day workshop.
