Build practical confidence in understanding and applying ISO 9001

Introduction

Expand/Collapse Expand/Collapse

ISO 9001:2015 will be replaced by ISO 9001:2026 in September 2026. As the revised standard has not yet been published, this course is currently based on ISO 9001:2015. We will, however, provide guidance on the known changes and what they may mean for organisations during the course.
The revision will not involve any major changes to the requirements of the standard. It will be a moderate evolution of ISO 9001, rather than a fundamental redesign, and will not be as significant as the transition from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015.
Organisations are expected to have three years from the publication of ISO 9001:2026 to transition their quality management systems to the revised standard.
Once the standard is published, we will provide guidance and training on transition.

This practical one-day course gives learners a clear and detailed insight into ISO 9001 and how an effective Quality Management System supports an organisation. Learners explore the principles of Quality Management and the structure of ISO 9001 and develop an understanding of the requirements contained within clauses 4 to 10.

The course moves beyond simply explaining the standard. Through facilitation, discussion, practical exercises and accelerated learning techniques, learners consider how ISO 9001 applies within real organisations. The interactive training style helps learners build confidence in interpreting QMS requirements and applying their learning in their own workplace.

What's covered?

Expand/Collapse Expand/Collapse

This one-day workshop introduces the core concepts behind quality management before taking learners through the structure and requirements of ISO 9001. The training is practical, fast-paced and interactive with opportunities for learners to discuss how the requirements apply within real organisational settings.

Topics include:

  • What quality means in an organisational context
  • Benefits of an effective Quality Management System
  • Common assumptions and misconceptions about ISO 9001
  • The seven Quality Management Principles
  • The 10-clause structure of ISO 9001
  • Detailed consideration of the requirements within clauses 4 to 10  - Context of the organisation, Leadership, Planning, Support, Operation, Performance evaluation, Improvement
  • Applying the process approach
  • QMS documentation and structure

The emphasis throughout is on practical understanding rather than simply learning the wording of the standard. Public courses enable learners to share perspectives across organisations and industries while In-Company delivery can be customised around the organisation's own QMS documentation and examples.

Who should participate?
