Auditing internal quality systems is essential to sustaining and improving an organisation’s performance. This certified course equips learners with practical, hands-on skills to plan, conduct and follow up internal audits in line with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 19011 standards.

Delivered in association with CQI and IRCA Approved Training Partner Antaris, the course is aligned with international best practices and provides a pathway to globally recognised auditing credentials.

This highly interactive two-day course is designed to simulate real-world auditing scenarios. It emphasises doing over just knowing, ensuring learners build confidence to audit effectively and contribute to meaningful quality improvement.

Please note: A prior understanding of the ISO 9001 standard is strongly recommended. Learners who are unfamiliar with ISO 9001 can avail of free access to the SQT Foundation e-learning course when booking (IRCA certification optional and incurs a fee).

Day 1:

Introduction to Quality Systems
PDCA and Process-based QMS
Risk-based thinking and the Process Approach
The QMS Audit Process
Internal auditor responsibilities and competencies

Day 2:

Audit preparation and checklists
Conducting audits and gathering evidence
Interview and questioning techniques
Reporting, follow-up and corrective action

Content can be tailored for In-Company delivery to reflect specific organisational systems and needs.

This programme is designed for anyone involved in the auditing, management, or implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS) that conforms to ISO 9001:2015. It is equally valuable for those who are new to auditing and for experienced auditors who wish to strengthen their skills.

It will benefit individuals who:

Conduct, plan, or support internal audits of a QMS
Manage, maintain, or implement ISO 9001:2015 quality systems
Need to identify and address gaps in system effectiveness to support compliance
Carry out supplier or external audits on behalf of their organisation

Typical participants include Quality Managers and Engineers, Department Managers and Supervisors and personnel responsible for supplier or process audits.

On successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:

Explain the role and responsibilities of an internal auditor
Describe how internal audits contribute to QMS maintenance and improvement
Interpret the ISO 9001:2015 standard using the PDCA model
Apply a risk-based, process-oriented audit approach
Plan and conduct effective internal QMS audits in accordance with ISO 19011
Report on audit findings and follow up on corrective actions

CQI IRCA recommends the following prior knowledge:

Understanding of the PDCA cycle
Familiarity with quality management concepts and their relationship with customer satisfaction
Understand commonly used quality management terms and definitions, as given in ISO 9000
Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements (free e-learning Foundation course access provided by SQT if required)

English Language Competency
A good standard of written and spoken English is important to engage effectively with this programme.

Learners are assessed continuously throughout the course via interactive exercises and engagement in Q&A sessions:

Role-playing audit scenarios
Involvement in case study exercises
Active participation in course discussions
Tutor-led evaluation of individual contributions

Full attendance and participation are required for successful completion.
